blahhhhh

It's been a loooong day.
I spent a couple hours this morning cleaning, sweeping, and mopping the downstairs.
I babysat my friend's little boy for a few hours.
I supervised homework.
Edited pictures for too long.

I'm tired and I have a headache.
But I couldn't pull myself away.

It's almost bedtime and we haven't eaten yet.
I don't think I'm going to be able to see my sweetie tonight, and he'll probably be sad.

The girls have literally been fighting like cats and dogs all day.
Slapping, punching, kicking, pushing, pinching, screaming.
It's been RIDICULOUS.

I am ready for this day to be OVER!!

But, real quick before I go, here's Liliya's three year old portrait (two months late, but better late than never!).

Holly's baby, Luke, ten months old. Isn't he cuuuuuute???!!!

Charlize, at just shy of 5 years old.

If you ask her what she wants to eat....

7 times out of 10, the answer will involve Nutella.

That's my girl!

equation fail

We did a massive grocery shopping trip today.

I got tons of fresh fruits and veggies.

I'm ready start eating healthier.

Ready to hopefully lose some weight.
I don't need to lose a lot to be happy.
I would be thrilled to lose 30 or 40 pounds.
I could stand to lose 80.
But I'm not ready to work my butt off for it.

Ready to stop running to the bathroom approximately 27 minutes after I eat dairy.
I'm just gonna have to cut it out of my diet.
Cheese, that is.
Yogurt doesn't bother me.
Just cheese.
And I don't drink milk.

I'm ready to be a better role model for the kids.

Anyway, yes, massive grocery shopping trip.

And now my lower back and my sciatic on *both* sides are bothering me.
Which is weird because usually it's only my left side.

I caved and got the kids some new playdoh on said grocery shopping trip.
I don't know what I was thinking.

Scratch that.
I do know what I was thinking.
I was thinking that the kids love playdoh and I love for them to have creative, hands on things to play with.
But I was not thinking about the impending mess.
That part of the equation always, without fail, escapes me during those weak moments.

All five kids played with playdoh for well over an hour.
I cleaned most of it up.

I got one of the books I ordered today.
The last one that was mailed out.
Got here first.
I'm 1/4 of the way through it.
Love and Logic, or something like that.
It's really good so far.

After I've read these books, my kids will start behaving better, right?!

March 1, 2011 3/1/11. good morning! today is monday. It is sunny. We go to art. Rayce said, on saterday me my mom and my sisters went to my moms boyfrinds house to sleap over. The few people that read my blog...
you're gonna get sick of hearing this.

BUT.
Is it spring yet?
:o(

I can't take this weather anymore!!
The girls are worse today than they were yesterday.
Seems like they're getting sick AGAIN before they even come completely out of the previous illness.
Charlize is coughing up a lung.
Liliya is so congested she can't breathe through her nose.
My poor girls.

Anyway, all I can think about is nice weather.
About all the things I want to do.
Outside.
Parks and pools every single nice day.
Eating healthier foods, for myself AND the kids.
Picnic lunches.

~*~

I was looking at laptop lunch boxes online, but they're soooo expensive.
Seriously... $40 a pop. For one lunch kit.

Annnnnd since I need six of them...
There's just no way.
I'm a single Mama on a serious budget.

A friend pointed me in the direction of Fit & Fresh.
They make containers that have ice packs that snap into the lids.
And they're very reasonably priced!
I can't wait to be able to get some, I'll probably have to wait till next month.

They have several different varieties.
I put together a shopping cart to keep track of what I want to order.
For myself and the five kiddos to be out of the house for a large portion of the day when it's nice out, I put into my cart...

2 fruit and veggie bowls. These are sooo neat. They have a cup in the middle to hold up to one cup of a dip, and then three divided sections around the center which each hold 1 1/4 cups of food.
I'm thinking a fruit bowl with a yogurt dip, and a veggie bowl with ranch dressing or hummus. Yummm.

3- four cup smart portion chill containers. These look the perfect size for packing a pasta or potato salad. They have measurements up the side to make portion control easy, too.

2- four packs of the kids 2 cup chill containers. Perfect size for a sandwich, cut in half and stacked. Or a side of *anything*.

and then I have a water bottle for each of us added to the cart, as well. Kids chilled 14 ounce bottles for each of the kids (they each have a freezable ice pack that goes right into the bottle, so neat!)... red and purple for the girls (so, 2), orange and yellow for Rayce, green and blue for Dante, and green for Holden.  Then I have a CleanTek Stainless Steel water bottle for myself.

I've contacted the company, hoping to do a review for them!

~*~

Spring, please hurry.
We're waiting ever so (im)patiently.

I feel like spring is never going to come.
It's the very end of March.
C'mon, Mother Nature!

The kids are all sick.
Starting to come out of it, I think.

But I'm just. OVER. IT.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I know this is mostly my hormones and PMS talking, but the last couple days, I'm really feeling BLAH.
I'm sick of the crap that is my every day life.

Every day.
I help wipe butts.
I bathe children.
I work on a mountain of laundry that never ends.
I clean.
Sweep and mop.
Vacuum.
Organize.
Oversee homework.
Comb hair.
Put crazy kids to bed (which takes over an hour, some nights).

But I can't do alllll of that every day.
So I get what I can done.
And in the meantime, the kids completely trash whatever I didn't get to.
And then it's ALWAYS still a mess.

And it's never done.
And that's really frustrating.
Lately, more than usual.

I'm hoping that once the sun starts shining a little more, I start feeling a little better.

I'm hoping that IF I ever "catch up", keeping up will be a little easier.
But some days it just feels hopeless.
Some days it feels like I'm stuck, right here, right now, and this is the only place I'll ever be, doing the same things I will ALWAYS be doing, every single day, for the rest of my pathetic life.
It's a lonely feeling.

And like I said, I know that it's hormones and PMS, almost that time of the month, lack of sunshine/vitamin D, physical exhaustion, and being just plain overwhelmed.

I just can't wait to feel a little better.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I ordered a few books on Amazon a few days ago, I can't wait to get them.
About parenting.
Discipline.
The parent/child relationship.

Someone on my FB friends list said something the other day about reminding herself that is it actually a relationship between parent and child.
And I had to actually think about that for a minute.

So much of the time, it feels like me against them.
But it IS a relationship.
And I need to treat it like one.
Do things to nurture it, as a relationship.
Like in any other relationship.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I've been playing on photoshop a lot with some of my new presets/actions and my older pictures, and I'm in love.
I just adore taking pictures.
Editing pictures.
Playing with pictures in photoshop.

I am in love with photography.
I really am.
It makes me so happy.

And that's how I know, this is what I'm supposed to be doing.
I am going to do everything I can this 'warm season' (spring/summer/fall) to do as much photography as possible.
My own kids, other people's kids, everything and anything.
Because it makes me happy.
It gives me practice.
And each great photo takes me one step closer to being able to make this into a part time job/paying hobby like I've dreamed of.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Anyway, guess that's enough for now.
The mountain of laundry is beckoning.

*sigh*

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

So it's become glaringly obvious to me that although Charlize is far far FAR behind where Rayce was at the same age, she is certainly within the normal range of knowledge and development. EXCEPT in social/emotional regards. I'm really hoping that dance and whatever other activities I can scrounge up will help. I'm thinking about putting her in some kind of camp towards the end of summer, too, even though I know it will be expensive. I'm just really scared that she's not emotionally ready for kindergarten. I'm hoping that a half day camp towards the end of summer will help her get ready, get her used to being in a group, away from Mama, and listening to other adults.

I was working with her for a few minutes this morning with some alphabet flash cards. She knows almost all capital letters by sight. She tends to mix up N, M, and W, and for whatever reason, has a hard time remembering Y. She knows letter sounds pretty well. I haven't been pushing lower case letters yet. I started with capital just because the letters she already knew were all capital.

She needs to work on...
address
phone number
lowercase letters
puzzles
counting in one-to-one correspondence (she can and does do this, I just think a little practice can't hurt!)
writing letters
last name

(had to delete this post and put it into a new post because the spacing and everything was all wacky and half of my blog was hanging off the side of the 'page')

I hear some mumbled words coming from the girls' room.

Man, why am I still awake??

I have been dead tired allllllll day and desperate for sleep.
And now that it's actually time to sleep, I'm awake.
Tired. But still awake.
UGHHH.

Charlize is still running a fever, but her coughing hasn't been nearly as bad tonight.
Mom brought home some mucinex mini melts or something and they seem to be helping.
I just have to pay close attention to when she takes it so I can make sure I stay on top of it and she really gets it every 4 hours, or the coughing gets bad again.
She felt well enough to want some ice cream tonight, anyway.
If her fever lasts past tomorrow (which, tomorrow will be the second day), we'll be headed to the doc on Thursday.

We're apparently expecting 6-10" of snow tonight and tomorrow.
Are you serious?
I'm sick of winter, already.
Mother Nature needs to take a good long hard look at the calendar.
Sunday was the first day of spring, after all.
This better be winter's last hurrah.
Or else.
OR ELSE!
Or else...
ummmm.
I'm gonna be pissed, that's what.

Other than that, it's been business as usual around here.

I finished getting the boys room put together today, organized, cleaned up.
Tomorrow I'll get it vacuumed, wash their bedding, and work in the girls room and the hallway and the upstairs bathroom.
Rayce loves his new bed and dressers.
The coolest thing is that since the bunkbeds are metal, he can stick his Bakugans all over it :o)
I'm thinking about getting him some more magnetic stuff, maybe some kids magnetic poetry things, to put on his bunkbeds.

Is it spring yet?
Cuz I've seriously had enough of this garbage.
I'm ready to open the windows and let the kids play in the backyard all day.
I'm ready to hit the parks and eat dinner out on the deck.
I'm ready for sunny outside pictures and greenery in the backgrounds.
I'm ready for summer vacation and summer fun.

Anyway, nuff for now.
Must try to get some sleep.

Happy Spring!!!

It's the first day of springggg!
And the sun is shining!!

It looks like it's going to be a gorgeous dayyyyy!

I'm hoping to get the kids outside for some pictures once it warms up a little.
I'm wayyyyyy behind.

I still have not done Liliya's three year pictures.
Or Dante's four year pictures.
Or Holden's five year pictures.

Sooooo it's looking like everyone is going to get 'spring' pictures instead.
As long as I get some nice, portrait quality pictures of the kids about 4 times a year, I'll be content.
Christmas and Easter are a given.
And I always get some nice shots over the summer.
So I guess we're covered.
Enough, anyway.

Soooo, yes, going to shoot for some nice pictures today.
Hoping the kids can spend a large portion of the day in the backyard.

The sun felt sooooo amazing last week.

I'm so glad it's the first day of spring, let's keep our fingers crossed that Mother Nature peeks at the calendar and follows suit :o)

Candice + Matt = Emery Fredric Bernard

Is it Monday yet?

Is it Monday yet?

I don't normally like Mondays.
But I'm looking forward to the day after tomorrow.

Because it's been CRAZY around here for the last couple of MONTHS.

And after this weekend, we have nothing going on for a while.
A WHILE.
No more birthdays, parties, showers.
For several months anyway.

So, this coming week, I've got big plans involving purging and organization and spring cleaning.

And naps.
Every single day.

I haven't had a nap in weeks.
And I really, really, REALLY need one.

So, shortly, I'll be on my way to pick up Holden and Dante.
Then I'll come home and feed the kids and hopefully put them all to bed at a reasonable time.
And then tomorrow I'll try my best to clean up around 10 pitter-pattering stuff-trampling mess-making feet.
And then I'll feed them all again and drop the boys back off and put three in bed, and crash into my own comfy bed early and sleep alllllllll night long.

And when I wake up, it will be
Monday

:o)

Holy loooooooong day.
I am exhausted.

Spent a very large portion of the day on laundry.

Kids spent hours and hours outside, on the trampoline, swinging, and digging in the dirt.

I babysat all three of my sister's monsters.
I miss them.

But I was glad when their parents came to take them home!

I am very much looking forward to a hot bath and an early bedtime.

As soon as I'm done getting my monsters in bed.

Happy spring!

Eggies for miss moo!
