Thought i was getting a stye. But no telltale bump on the eyelid, just a very sore and swollen and pink pouch under my eye and a red and sore lower lid.

1. I'm 26 years old. Which is closer to 30 than it is to 20. I'm starting to feel 'old'.
2. I always wanted nothing more than to be a mom.
3. Now that I am a mom, I love my kids more than anything in life. But I spend a portion of every day wanting to rip my hair out.
4. I used to be an 'animal person'. Now that I have kids, that's changed, drastically.
5. I have some OCD, namely, list writing. I write lists. Lots of them. It calms me down. Even though I never look at them again, usually, after I've written them.
6. I ADORE photography/pictures.
7. I desperately crave more 'me' time.
8. I feel incapable/incompetent a lot of the time.

Sunday, April 10, 2011

I absolutely could not sleep last night, even though I was completely exhausted.
I was up till well after 3am :o(
Had a hard time functioning for the first 3/4 of the day.
Did manage to get a nap, thankfully.

We layed around alllllll day.
Rayce is covered in new spots. Very swollen and hard, red, and warm.
These look different than the spots that I thought were chicken pox last week.
These are definitely bug bites.
He got all the ones on his arms while we were outside yesterday, and he got a couple on his legs at some point.
Ugh.
I just don't know.

We'll be looking for some children's benadryl when we go out grocery shopping tomorrow!

I had quite the little adventure tonight.
Went over to Drew's after I put the kids in bed, like I usually do.
We were hanging out, snuggling, and I kept thinking I heard something.
So I shut the door, because it was unnerving.
And the door locked.
We got locked IN the bedroom.
And no one could find a key to the apartment.
And we couldn't get out.
And we couldn't get the window open.
When we finally did get the window open, Drew wanted ME to jump out and run around the front door, because his shoes weren't in the bedroom. BUT that was like a 6 foot drop.
I fall hard. And I'm not graceful at all.
Drew did this James Bond tuck and roll out the window, it was very amusing and I wish I had gotten it on video.
I tossed him my house key out the window, he ran around and came in the front door, and broke into the bedroom door with a knife.
Yeesh.
It was an adventure.
Took us 45 minutes.
By the end of that 45 minutes, I was starting to feel slightly claustrophobic, just from being locked in the bedroom!

When I got home at ten, the kids were still awake.
Still messing around.
They had broken a lightbulb and so Mom had sent them into MY room.
Ummm, how bout not.
So I vacuumed the mess up and sent them back to bed.

I don't know how they can be up so late and still have so much energy the next day.
It never works like that for me!

I put my new car decals on the van today.
I LOOOOOVE them.
It was a pain getting what was left of the old decals off, but it was more than worth it to get the new ones on.
I had to put them at the top of the back window, to avoid the path of the wiper blade, so it doesn't look as nice in that respect.
But the decals are *awesome*.
If you are ever looking for decals for your car (or vinyl decals for anything, really, or custom t-shirts or sweatshirts or anything of that type!), let me know and I'll hook ya up with Harold Green at L&M Graphics (a mommy friend's husband, he's a graphic artist, and he's great at what he does!)! His prices are great, too! I paid just $5 for each of the in loving memory decals, and only $2 each for the stick figures in the family decal. These went on so much more easily than the previous decals I've had, and they seem like a much higher quality.
I loooooove them!

Anyway, nuff for now, it's 11 and I need to hit the hay while I have the chance!

Oh what a night

Ok, not really.
Tonight has been nothing ridiculously out of the ordinary.
Other than an easy-as-pie bedtime, which, ok, ok, is fairly rare.

We've had a great weekend so far.
Spent the night at my sweetie's last night.
Left around lunch time today.
Signed Rayce up for t-ball.
Had lunch and played outside and played playdoh and then had dinner with Amy, Corbin, and Brooke.
Rayce was covered in new spots that are hugely swollen and warm and red.
Liliya passed out on the couch.
Grampa and MiMa came to visit for a bit.
Happy Birthday Grampa!
Put the kids in bed and they stayed there. QUIETLY!

It's only 930 and I'm already in bed.

Grateful for an easy bedtime.
For sunshine.
For spring, finally.
For friends.
For family.
For my obnoxious kids.

Who were a lot less obnoxious today, thanks to some very sage advice.
"Treat them more like you would treat someone else's child".
That's what I worked on today.
And it seems to work.
Keeps me a lot calmer.
And seems to get better results.
Probably because I've been calmer!

If someone else's kid was playing with a huge stick, would I start yelling?
Nope.
I would tell them nicely to put it down.
If someone else's kid kept getting up out of their seat, would I start yelling?
Nope.
I'd tell them to keep their bottom on their chair.

I feel sometimes like all I do is yell.
And where does that get me?

It gets me high blood pressure and a headache, most of the time.
And it does NOT produce the desired results anyway.
Yelling at the kids doesn't make them listen.

So why do I yell?

Probably because I was yelled at.

But 'the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result'.
I'm done with that.

If it doesn't work, it's not worth my time.

I've gotten so sick of my life lately.
Sick of parenting.
Sick of this spot where I'm soooo very stuck.
Sick of doing the same thing over and over.

I know what the result is.

It's the same as it always has been.

DUH!

So, I'm changing it up.

Trying something different.

Not just with the kids.

With life.

It needs to change.
And I need to make it happen.

Can you tell from the pictures that I ended up babysitting today?

I miss Missy Moo.
I really doo.

That being said.
Spending ten hours with 6 children underfoot...
reminds me why I told my sister that I can't be their full time babysitter!

I enjoy being the backup.
I need the money.
I love seeing the kids.
But it's too many kids for 9-10-11 hours a day, 5 days a week.
And to think she's going to have 2 more this fall.
Sheesh.

Annnnnyway.
So I got nothing done today.
And on top of getting done...
the kids *completelyyyyyyyy* trashed both of the kids' bedrooms.
That I spent the first half of the week cleaning.
:o(

So tomorrow is gonna be busy.
Getting everything cleaned BACK up.
Kids rooms.
Downstairs.
Hallway and stairs.
BathroomS.
Laundry.
And hopefully getting to my bedroom too.
*sigh*

I'm thinking of doing a photo shoot day at some point during the next few weeks.
Setting up my backdrop and lighting, finding a few props, and inviting anyone and everyone to come get some pics taken for cheap.
If I have my equipment set up anyway, and give people maybe a half hour slot for photos, and charge only $15, I can make a little bit of moolah, get some good practice, and get a bunch of new photos for my 'portfolio' and website.

If this photo day is successful, I'll set it up every month or two, especially during the cold months
It'll get a lot of pictures over with in a short time, and I'll only have to set my equipment up once and just leave them up for those few hours during the day.

I'll call it Photo Phrenzy day or something catchy like that.
Suggestions?

Anyyyyyway, it's after 11 and I need to get some sleep.
My obnoxious cat will be waking me up sometime between five and six AM, yowling like a female in heat, even though he's a boy.
UGH!

watch this

Go there. Watch that video.
10 minutes long but worth it.
You'll smile.
Cry.
And then want to go hug your kids.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I want Rayce to start keeping a journal.
Blogging is so important to me.
I want keeping some kind of record of his life to be important to him.
And I think now is an ideal time to start.

Mannnn

I am just soooooo tired.
I was up too late last night.
Just couldn't sleep.

I'm paying for it today.
And I've been extra tired lately anyway.

I literally have done *nothing* all day.
No laundry. No picking up.
Nothing.

I tried desperately to get a nap.
But it just didn't happen.

I think naps are a thing of the past for Charlize.
And unfortunately, I can't get a nap unless she naps too.
:o(

Rayce has been getting these strange bites.
We flea treated the dog and cats a week ago, and he's still getting them.
Last night I noticed blistery heads on all the spots on his back.
The ones on his face are scabby now.
Chicken pox?
Mild since he was vaccinated against it??
I don't know.

But with Rayce home and Charlize not napping, there was no way Liliya would lay down, either.
I just wanted a nap.

*sigh*

Tomorrow begins my big bedroom bang, since I didn't get to it today.
My room needs to be *emptied*.
And then put back together, neatly.
It's gonna take all day.
If not 2 days.

I pulled out the flash cards to work with Charlize today.
She wasn't interested for long.
She mixes up M, N, and W a lot.
And we haven't even started on lower case letters.
I feel bad sometimes because she's no where close to where Rayce was at the same ago.
He was reading before he turned 5.
She's almost 5 and doesn't even know all of her letters.
I feel guilty for not having the time to work with her like I did with Rayce.
From the time he was TINY, I would point out colors and letters and shapes.
He was so smart.
But by the time Charlize and Holden were 2-3 years old, when they should have been starting to learn these things, I had another baby, had just lost Anthony, and I didn't have it in me to do anything above and beyond what it took to get through each day.
I feel guilty.
But all I can is the best I can do, and I'm trying hard to do what I can now that I realize she needs some help.

Liliya is doing amazingly well with her letters.
She gets confused with several of them, but for just turning 3 years old a couple months ago... she's a smart cookie!!
Video below (previous post) of Liliya naming letters.

Is it bedtime yet?
Cuz I'm ready.

I've been keeping up with getting the laundry put away (well, the kids laundry, anyway).
I'm proud of myself.
Today, we got the boys' room clean.
It was trashed.

I'm tellin ya, these kids can trash a room (or most of a HOUSE) quicker than you can take a quick dump.
Seriously.

But, both of the kids rooms are clean at the moment, and all of their clean laundry is put away.
The boys have fresh bedding on all three beds.

Tomorrow I'm going to wash the girls' bedding and work downstairs.

Then for the rest of the week, I'll be concentrating on claiming my own bedroom back.
At the moment, it's full of clothes.
Most of which don't even belong to me.

I promised myself a couple weeks ago that I wouldn't bring anything into my room that didn't belong to me.
And I haven't, since that point.
But I haven't had the chance to clean up the mess that's been here, yet.
I used to carry all the clean laundry to my room.
I would sort it.
The boys clothes in the black basket, girls clothes in the green basket, my clothes and other misc. stuff in a third basket.
Only, I'm usually terrrrrrrible about putting it away.
So every time the kids would get into my room, they would dump/scatter/toss everything all over the place.
Hence the lack of visible floor in my room.

Soon to change.
Soooooon to change.

Anyway, the kids were up till almost 11pm tonight.
I left to see Drew around 8pm, came home just before 10, and they were still up.
I yelled, threatened, screamed like a banshee for a while until they finally gave up and went to sleep.

I hate nights like tonight.

My kids have been NUTS lately.

I know they are stir-crazy.
It's been a ridiculously long winter and we're all more than ready for spring.
But they have been MONSTERS.

I wasn't overly impressed with a few of the parenting books I ordered.

The SuperNanny book is just re-stating things you can learn directly from the show.
Another book is just full of schedules.

So far, the only one I really enjoyed, that made sense to me, was Love and Logic Magic.

Ok, nuff for now, my tylenol pm is kicking in.

Hoping for another productive day tomorrow :o)

hot shower. heating pad. TLC. check!

It was a long day.

The kids played outside for 4 hours.

I got the girls room cleaned.
Purged a trash bag full.
Broke up 674 fights.
Did 6 loads of laundry.
Put away 4 of those loads (GO ME!).
Made chuck roast for dinner.
Fed and bathed 5 kids.
Gave one haircut.
Clipped 20 nails and cleaned 10 ears.
Dropped off the boys at 7.
Put three kids in bed.

Then I finally got a shower of my own.
Now I'm relaxing in my amazingly comfortable bed, with my heating pad and TLC.
Sister Wives is on next, yay!

Anyway, enough for now. I'm snuggling in and hunkering down for the night.

Ahhhhhhh

The sun is shining.
The kids are outside playing.
The back door is open.
The heat is off.
Third load of laundry is in the wash.
Girls room is cleaned and vacuumed (from not even being able to find the floor).
Entire trash bag full of unneeded stuff is purged.
The kids are eating peanut butter sandwiches and cantaloupe out on the deck.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
This is much better.

*~Bonnie Lea~*

Saturday, April 2, 2011

It was a long day.

We spent the night at my sweetie's last night.
We usually do on Friday nights.
I cleaned up and vacuumed his house this morning.

Then came home and cleaned up and swept here.

We all took a nap.

I picked up the boys tonight.
We watched some of the Kids Choice Awards.

I bathed the youngest 4.
Got everyone into bed.
Chased everyone back into bed.
Several times.

It doesn't seem like a lot of work.
Doesn't seem like a long day.
But it was.

I have been in a really bad mood for a lot of the last week.
I've been really irritable.
Short fused.
Moody.
Down in the dumps.
Feeling hopeless.

I don't know if it's the time of year.
Almost that time of the month.
But I do know I'm sick of feeling like crap.

I'm really hoping that some sunshine and getting out of the house some more will help.

Hoping that the kids and I can spend a lot of time outside tomorrow.
It's supposed to be 48 degrees! Whooooooopie!

I need to get into a routine.
Desperately.
We have no routine.

In one of my books, there's a test to see what kind of parenting personality you have.
And I can't remember what my type was called, but one of the shortcomings of this particular type was following a routine (or lack of following a routine, anyway).

If you know me, you know that I love to make lists. That I love to make plans.
But then you also know that I SUCK at following through.
With anything.

And I've gotta do something about that.

For my kids.
And for myself.

Anyway, that's enough deep thought for now.

Hoping for a good day tomorrow :o)

It's 7pm, not dark yet,

It's 7pm, not dark yet, and the birds are still singing. It's unseasonably cool but spring is on its way!!

Preschool Dance Camp

April is the month of preschool dance camp for the girlies.
Last night was their first class.
They *loved* it!
I stood in the doorway and took lots of pictures.
Most of which came out blurry cuz the kids were alllll over the place.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to put them in a regular class after the camp is over at the end of the month.
I just have to figure out how to make it happen, financially.

Anyway, here are just a couple of pics :o)

April

My goals for April.
Keeping it very simple and easy to achieve.

Eat breakfast.
Because I usually skip it and then I eat the equivalent of two meals for lunch.

Eat a fruit or a veggie before lunch.
About ten-fifteen minutes before.
So I'm not as hungry.

Work on putting laundry away as soon as it comes out of the basement.
Have the kids take care of their own laundry after I sort/fold/hanger it.

And that's it.
If I can accomplish those three simple things for the month, my life will be better and easier, I will be healthier.
And then I'll add three more simple things next month.
