The air is fresh.
It smells like spring.
Like dirt.
Like melting snow.
And worms waking up.

I don't know what exactly it is about the weather, but it affects my mood soooo much.
And tonight, I feel so good about life.

Spring always feel like a fresh start.

Everything is so fresh and new in the spring.

It's the re-birth of life, in so many ways.

I've seen 3 robins in the past weeks.
Several flocks of geese.
And a few crocuses sprouting up from the slightly less frozen ground.

Tonight I went to a kindergarten readiness program for Charlize.
I'm really not sure she's ready for kindergarten, but it's time.
I've got so much to do to get her ready.
Mostly in the area of socialization and being part of a group and away from me.

It seemed so much easier with Rayce, which doesn't make much sense.
Most people say the first and the last are the hardest.
But Charlize is in the middle.

Maybe it's just because it's her.
Because she seems to be having a harder time than Rayce ever did.

Man, I walked him into the classroom on his first day and he was like "see ya, Mama!".

I guess his readiness and eagerness made it easier for me.

Luckily, I've still got several months (five-ish?) to get Charlize all hyped up and ready to go.

She needs to learn
lower case letters
her address
her birthday
her phone number

She needs to practice
cutting
pasting
counting in one-to-one correspondence
putting puzzles together

And more than anything, she needs to get out of the house and be a part of a group more often.

I'm hoping that dance class will help (starts in 2 weeks).
T-ball starts in a month or so, also.
Other than that, I'm not really sure what else to do.

I'm desperately hoping that we can get Charlize and Drew's daughter into the same kindergarten class.
It'll make homework time a lot easier with both of them doing the same assignments.
And I think Reni will help Charlize open up to the other kids more and be more comfortable in general, having her friend there with her.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I'm babysitting for my sister tomorrow.
Hoping it goes smoothly.
Hoping Jeremiah doesn't get into too much trouble and Melissa isn't too cranky and Jonathan and Charlize won't fight all day.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I've got soooo much laundry to do, again.
And bedrooms to clean.
And litterboxes to empty.
And bedding to wash.
And hair to braid.
And baths to give.

And then tomorrow evening Linda and Dave are picking up a new set of bunkbeds and dressers for the boys room from a lovely woman from craigslist!!! Yayyy!!!

Friday I've got a million things to do, too.

Getting ready for my friend Candice's baby shower (Saturday), I'm taking care of the games.
I still can't believe she's having a baby!

Seems like every time I turn around, months have flown by and things are changing too quickly for me to keep up with.

I've really gotta do a photoshoot with my kiddos sometime very soon.
They're growing up too fast.

Let me say that 'the honeymoon is over'. It's been about three months since Drew and I started seeing each other. Some of his quirks are starting to drive me nuts. But I'm totally head over heels for him and more than willing to deal with his less than pleasant habits in order to be the one by his side for the rest of forever <3
Flinstones vitamin cap issue... NOT childproofed

I'm upset with myself. For not video taping this the first time it happened. This squirell was sitting on the deck railing for a while. Pauline and I were watching him. I don't know what possessed me, but I banged on the door. The squirell jumped about three feet into the air, did a flip mid-air, and landed on the deck. He sat there and just stared at me for a few minutes, then jumped back up on the railing. This time I thought better and pulled out my phone to video it. He didn't fall this time. It's still funny though. Not NEARLY as funny as the first time, though. Darnnnnnnnnnit! That could have gone viral on youtube if I had thought about it beforehand!
She's a diva and she knows it :o)

I got some balloons.
The kids wrote notes and pictures on them for Daddy.
Then they let them go, sent them up.

It was the beginning of a nice tradition.

It's been three years.
The kids don't remember much, if anything.
I don't want them to feel as if their daddy never existed.

For a long time, I pushed him to the very back of my mind, tried to forget, did what I had to do to make it through the days, weeks, months, and years.

Time heals all wounds, they say.
I'm not sure that's completely true.
I'm not sure I'll ever be 'healed'.
But I can feel myself healing.

So this year, I made it a point to take the time to remind the kids that it was their daddy's birthday.
We did something special, to remember him, to celebrate him.
And we will continue this every year, in honor of him.

We miss him, every day.
We love him, always.

Happy Birthday, my sweet City Love.

Rayce lost his very first tooth on his daddy's birthday :o)

Happy Birthday Anthony

29 forever.

We miss you everyday.

You're always in my heart.
Always.

If tears could build a stairway
and thoughts a memory lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again
No Farewell words were spoken
No time to say good-bye
You were gone before I knew it
And only God knows why.
My heart's still active in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one can ever know.
But now I know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.
Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you'll always stay.
God knows why, with chilling touch,
Death gathers those we love so much,
And what now seems so strange and dim,
Will all be clear, when we meet Him.
I Knew you for a Moment

Benny Boo Boo, looks wayyyyy too comfy in Samson's bed!

weekenddd

Yesterday, I turned 26.

26 is closer to 30 than it is to 20.
So I'm feeling slightly old.

But it was a great day.
The sun was shining.
Rayce and Liliya went to a birthday party, Charlize spent the day (and night) with her BFF Jada.

My momma took me shopping.
It was a lucky flipping day to go shopping!
Everything at Fashion Bug was 40% off!!
I felt like I won the lottery.
I got a bunch of t shirts, 3 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of shorts, a few nice shirts, a pair of shoes, a purse...
socks, undies, bras.
I'll be set for a while now.
And it feels SOOOO nice to have some new clothes for *myself*!

Drew and I went out to dinner at Outback.
He got me a gorgeous necklace and earrings set, white gold with white sapphires, 'journey' jewelry, representing life's journey.
They are sooooo pretty!!
And dinner was wonderful!

My dad and stepmom brought me a sewinggggg machine that I absolutely cannot wait to learn how to use!!
I have so many ideas.
I want to make dresses for the girls.
Doll clothes.
The quilts for the kids from Anthony's clothes.
I'd love to learn how to sew cloth diapers.
My wheels are turrrrrning!!!

Then we came back home for some mississippi mud, and spent the night at Drew's house last night.
This morning, Drew got up with the kids and I got to sleep in till 10:30.
TEN THIRTY!
Unheard of!

Today was a little crazy, but it turned out good anyway.
We went to Drew's great-grandma's 90th birthday party.
The kids had a blast.
Liliya fell in love with Uncle Tom.
Bobcia made a delicious cake by substituting a few ingredients in a cake mix with orange juice and orange zest, and she made the frosting from scratch, it was sooooo good (I'm not usually much for the icing on cakes, they're usually too sweet!)!!!

After the party, we all went outside and Drew released some balloons for Acen's sixth birthday last week.
It was a sad moment.
(for anyone who doesn't know, Drew lost his five year old son Acen in September 2010, to an unexplained allergic reaction)
I never met Acen but I think about him all the time.
I miss the part I know he would have played in my life, alongside Drew and Reni.
And my heart breaks for his family, every day.

The rest of the day was uneventful.
We came home, hung out, kids were crazy from the soda and cake.
Now they're in bed, and I had a big piece of leftover mud.
It'll be an early to bed kind of night for me, tonight, too, after a long and busy but mostly wonderful weekend.

New clothes, gorgeous new earrings and journey necklace from Drew. Wonnnnnderful birthday yesterday :o)

Sending balloons up to heaven for Acen's sixth birthday....
