Christmas? Please share your thoughts...

My blog doesn't get a whole lot of traffic, but my friend Amy got me thinking.

How much do you buy your kids for Christmas?
A set dollar amount per child, or do you make sure they have an even number of gifts?
How many presents do you give from Santa, if any?
How many other people buy for your kids, and how much do they get from those other friends/relatives?

Do you have any special traditions?

Please, share your thoughts :o)

  1. Haha Yeahhh you know how overboard we go. I was actually thinking about it, because of the amount I have this year (near 20 apiece) and it doesn't look nearly as much as before; I'm thinking that it was probably closer to 50 each in years past! I'm working on about 15 each (not counting stockings) and hope to work down to 10 each (not counting stockings) over the years. From my parents, it's probably around 20 each, and from Tim's entire family it's probably around 15 also.

Now don't ask me about Bodhi Day, which will be a week-long thing; one present per day. :nb

  2. Holy crap, 50 each?! WOW!!

I think in 2008 the kids probably had about 50 each altogether, from us and from our family being adopted for Christmas. Alot of the gifts from the 'adoption' were clothes and small things like coloring books.

My dad and stepmom in previous years have gone ALLLL OUT for Christmas. Last year we had to put the kids in the van first and then pile the gifts in on top, no kidding. This year they say it'll be less for Christmas, which is actually a good thing.

I think right now I probably have about 10 gifts each, a couple less for Holden and Dante because Megan obviously buys for them also and I can't afford to do as much anyway. The girls' big gift is the dollhouse, which is a joint gift, and half of their Christmas is the dollhouse and the furniture sets.

They also get a few gifts each from my dad's side of the family, maybe 4 or 5, when we go to Albany for Christmas.

Your kiddos are gonna be floating in toys! It's a good thing you purged significantly a few months ago!! I'm working on the same thing right now, again (I have to purge in smaller doses or I panic!).
